Process Filter
RELCO wet & dry has developed a new generation CIP-able stainless
steel baghouse filters, in which both the filter bags and the clean air side of
the filter can be cleaned wet. While in process, the bags are
continuously and individually cleaned with airpulses.
Advantages are:
• Very low product
losses (powder in filtered air: < 5 mg/m3)
• Low pressure drop
• Constant powder
flow out of the filter
• Tangential inlet,
improving separation and reducing the load on the filter bags
• Low powder content in
exhaust allows better heat recovery, possibly reducing the energy consumption
of the dryer with 15 - 20%
• Requiring less space
than cyclones and therefore easy to replace cyclones
• Fully automatic
cleaning
• Fines return to spray
dryer or fluidbed
• High sanitary
construction
• Experience with many
different (difficult) powders
In-process Cleaning
All the filter bags are cleaned individually with an airpulse at a
programmed interval; each bag has a nozzle system situated at the top of the
bag in the clean-air side (see drawing)
Nozzles for individual bag cleaning
As a result of the air pulse, the bags will stretch and this
makes the powder at the outside of the bag fall off on the fluidised bottem of
the filter.

On the fluidised bottom, the powder is transported to the
centre by dry warm air. The powder is then discharched to the centre pipe.
To meet the requirements of different products and process conditions, the
pulse intensity and interval can be adjusted.
